Hult Prize’s CEO to Tour Brazil Hult Blog

BOSTON, May 27, 2013 — In a quest to inspire Brazilian business students to solve some of the world’s most pressing social issues, the Hult Prize has announced that its CEO, Ahmad Ashkar, will go on a five-day speaking tour to Brazil. The inaugural tour will take place from June 4-8, 2013. The Hult Prize’s CEO will visit the following cities: ââ€"  Sà £o Paulo: June 4-5 ââ€"  Rio de Janeiro: June 6 ââ€"  Curitiba: June 7-8 The Hult Prize, awarded by Hult International Business School, encourages business students to set up social enterprises that solve some of the world’s toughest social problems and the winner receives $1 million (2.015.300 real) in start-up funding. This year, the competition attracted 10,000 students from more than 150 countries representing over 350 higher education institutions. Over 500 contestants came from Latin America, where the Hult Prize has seen a steady increase in applications since it was launched nearly four years ago. To respond to the growing trend, the Hult Prize has decided to increase its outreach to Latin America and hold a first regional final in Sà £o Paulo next year. â€Å"The youth in this region have pivoted, and we have answered,† says Ashkar. â€Å"As more ideas from Brazil and its youth will amplify our global mission of creating the next wave of global entrepreneurs, we are very excited about coming to Brazil and look forward to welcoming over 200 LatAm finalists in Sà £o Paulo next spring.† The Latin American finalists, representing the top institutions in the region, will pitch their ideas for a chance to meet Hult Prize partner President Clinton and one million in seed funding to launch their new social venture. It taught me a lot about how I see people, how people see me, and how conflict can be resolved in a kind and productive way. The best feedback you get, when delivered constructively, is the most critical because it really feeds into how you lead. I’ve completely reversed my leadership style—the result is so much richer and more powerful when you lead from behind and lead with strength. . Studying in tandem with working, whilst challenging, gave me the perfect platform to directly apply learning concepts into my business environment, the competitive landscape, and the real-estate industry as a whole. When I started the program, I was very happy in my corporate role. But my courage and aspirations grew to the point that I took on a whole new direction.
